2nd Macau Auto Show held at The Venetian |

Jointly organized by Nam Kwong Group, Macau Convention & Exhibition Association, and China National Machinery Industry Corporation (Sinomach), the 2nd China (Macau) International Automobile Exposition (Macau Auto Show) took place at The Venetian Macau Convention & Exhibition Center from October 26 to 28, 2012. The opening ceremony took place on the morning of October 26, and was attended by Fernando Chui Sai On, Chief Executive of Macau, Bai Zhijian, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR, Hu Zhengyue, Commissioner of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Macau, Huang Danhua, Vice Chairwoman of SASAC, Zhou Bo, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the State Council, Gao Yan, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR, Francis Tam Pak Yuen, Secretary for Economy and Finance of Macau, Xu Kaicheng, Chairman of Nam Kwong Group, and Duan Hongyi, President of Nam Kwong Group. Huang Danhua said in her address that the Macau Auto Show is the largest one of its kind in the Hong Kong and Macau regions, and has received full support from SASAC and attracted active participation from central enterprises like FAW Group and Dongfeng Motor Corporation, automakers and auto parts manufacturers such as GAC, JAC and SAIC Motor, and relevant associations and enterprises based in Hong Kong and Macau. Emphasizing that the auto show is aimed at building up the image of China’s own auto brands, driving China’s auto industry to go global and promoting the moderate diversification of Macau’s economy, she expressed hope that Nam Kwong Group, Sinomach and the participating central enterprises would carefully draw on the experience, make active explorations, capitalize on Macau’s positioning as a platform to serve business cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries and a world tourism and leisure center, and work together with all sides to build the Macau Auto Show into a world-renowned auto show brand and a platform promoting the global presence of China’s auto industry and facilitating exchanges with the international auto industry, thus taking the development of Macau’s convention and exhibition industry to the next level. She pledged, on behalf of SASAC, to provide full support for the Macau Auto Show and Macau’s initiative to moderately diversify the economy. “The 2012 Macau Auto Show themed ‘brand, bridge and opportunity’ covers an exhibition area of 55,000m2, and brings together more than 60 brands and 300 exhibitors, making new progress on the basis of the previous edition. Meanwhile, it features events and activities such as the auto summit, trade cooperation conference, auto cultural exhibition, photograph contest, drawing competition, showgirls’ performance, and golf competition, in an effort to make itself a fascinating gala for auto brands, automotive talents and car enthusiasts”, said Xu Kaicheng, Chairman of Nam Kwong Group. |
