The 2015 “China Macau Distinguished Gathering – Macau Auto Show, Macau Yacht Fair, and Macau Business Aviation Exhibition” was held in Macau from November 5 to 7. The three shows covered a total exhibition area of 117,000m2, brought together more than 160 car, yacht and business aviation brands from nearly 30 countries and regions, and attracted nearly 200,000 visitors, all hitting record highs. A total of 88 events and activities were held, yielding productive results. Both the visitors and exhibitors were more satisfied about the shows than the previous editions.

The 5th Macau Auto Show kicked off at The Venetian Macau Convention & Exhibition Center on November 6. Continuing with the theme of “brand, bridge and opportunity”, this year’s auto show was aligned with China’s Belt and Road Initiative and Macau’s “Center & Platform” vision, and featured a larger scale and better quality. With an exhibition area of 65,000m2, the auto show brought together 92 mainstream car brands and relevant enterprises, agencies and trade associations from 17 countries and regions including the Chinese mainland, Germany, the U.S., Japan, Britain, France, Italy, South Korea, Portugal, Brazil, Hong Kong and Macau. A high-end forum and 59 car-related activities were held during the exhibition period, and more than 300 reporters from China and abroad covered the auto show, testifying to its leadership in the convention and exhibition industry of Macau.

The auto show had three exhibition halls dedicated to Chinese vehicles, super luxury vehicles and imported vehicles, and set up 12 exhibition zones. More than 400 vehicles of over 10 models were on display.

The Chinese vehicle hall hosted the most Chinese car brands exhibited overseas and a variety of vehicle models, drawing wide attention from media and visitors. The high-end forum provided a platform for participants to discuss the domestic and international trends of the auto industry and seek measures to build up China’s car brands and bolster the development of its auto industry. Some exhibitors conducted preliminary negotiations with auto dealers from Thailand, Laos and elsewhere.

The super luxury hall glittered with a galaxy of top brands such as Bentley, Porsche. The colorful luxury sports cars brought by the Sports Car Club attracted a large number of visitors to take photos, and the Tesla booth was teeming with visitors and buyers after announcing to release its Model S in Macau.

The imported vehicle hall featured imported vehicles and specially modified cars. BMW launched the new X1 and Mini Clubman models, and Mercedes-Benz released the A-Class, GLC-Class and V-Class cars. The numerous famous brands, new models and big discounts made the exhibition hall a highlight in Macau’s auto market.

During the auto show, the 5th Asia Pacific Auto Summit and the “Belt and Road” Global Development Summit themed “integrated and win-win development”, along with 59 car-related activities, were also held. Cheng Fei, a champion of the Asian Le Mans Series, came to meet and interact with his fans as Ambassador of the Macau Auto Show. Colorful activities such as the “ICBC Macau Cup” photograph contest, the fifth “Trumpchi Cup” model contest, Portuguese red wine tasting, children’s drawing, car logo quiz, and group-buying activity presented a captivating auto carnival to the visitors.

The 5th Macau Yacht Fair kicked off at Macau Fisherman’s Wharf on November 5, attracting tens of thousands of visitors. The yacht fair brought more than 200 potential buyers and had five yachts sold on site, winning wide applause from the exhibitors, media and visitors.

This year’s yacht fair brought together about 50 yacht brands and had an exhibition area of nearly 30,000m2, hitting record highs. It featured mainstream small and medium-sized yachts including world-famous yachts like Azimut 55FT, ABOSOLUTE 52FT, Sunseeker 40FT, Pershing 46FT, CTS 12M Sidewinder, Sealine F450 and Sessa 54FT, Chinese yachts like JP60FT and JP53FT, and luxury yachts such as Navetta 28, MCY70FT and Italyacht. In particular, the “Xiangjiang No. 1” sailboat made by an old shipyard in Coloane became a magnet at the yacht fair for its ancient style and combination of Chinese and Portuguese cultural elements. The offshore exhibition area attracted world-class brands and delegations. A car of F1 World Champion Ayrton Senna appeared for the first time in the past 22 years, along with the luxury car of Bentley. The Taiwan delegation, the Zhuhai delegation composed of manufacturers, and the delegation of the Professional Association of Diver Instructor (PADI) also showed up. The Macau Yacht Fair should seize the huge business opportunities brought by the policy on “yacht tours in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau” and the Belt and Road Initiative, support Macau’s positioning as a special autonomous region and a diversified international metropolis, and develop itself into a yacht trade and investment platform.

The First High-level Forum on the Development of Yacht Industry was held at the Harbourview Hotel on November 7. Cao Gang, inspector of the Equipment Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Cao Cide, Deputy Director of Macau Marine and Water Bureau, He Yemin, Vice Mayor of Zhuhai, and Song Xiaodong, Assistant General Manager of Nam Kwong Group, attended the opening ceremony. The forum included four sessions respectively themed “development opportunities for Macau under the Belt and Road Initiative”, “yacht manufacturing in China”, “yacht and finance in the age of the internet” and “yacht lifestyles and marine environmental protection”. Experts and representatives from the yacht, financial and media circles discussed the above topics and shared their opinions on the development of the yacht industry.

The 5th Macau Yacht Fair highlighted ten activities, including the marine silk fashion show, diving salon, Optimist sailing, jetboard performance, maritime photo exhibition, fan meeting, wine tasting, and tea party with media. These activities spread marine culture and advocated marine environmental protection,   enriching the yacht fair and attracting a large number of local residents.

The 4th Macau Business Aviation Exhibition kicked off on November 6. It was jointly organized by Nam Kwong Group, China Aviation Supplies Holding Company and Macau Convention & Exhibition Association, and received strong support from the Macau SAR Government, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the State Council, Civil Aviation Administration of China, Civil Aviation Authority of the Macau SAR, and Macau International Airport Co., Ltd.

The exhibition attracted nearly 10,000 visitors from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Southeast Asian countries, and other countries and regions. About 1,000 political and business elites, celebrities in the aviation, luxury car and yacht circles, and private banking customers were invited to the exhibition. Preliminary agreements on the purchase of two airplanes were reached.

A variety of events and activities were held during the exhibition. Committed to serving the regional economic development and promoting the development of business aviation, the business aviation development forum themed “new development modes of business aviation and MRO” brought together more than 100 representatives from business jet manufacturers, operators, service companies, associations and academic institutions and about ten media representatives. At the exhibitor promotions, the exhibitors released the latest information on their products and brands, drawing high attention from industry insiders and media. The science popularization lectures on aviation and paper plane competition were the highlights of this year’s exhibition, attracting a number of participants. These colorful activities, along with the aviation culture wall and photograph contest, were intended to spread the aviation culture and knowledge, help to build a top business aviation exhibition complementary to other aviation exhibitions in China and with the characteristics of Macau and international influence, promote the sound development of China’s business aviation industry, and contribute to the prosperity and economic development of Macau and surrounding regions.

The “China Macau Distinguished Gathering – Macau Auto Show, Macau Yacht Fair, and Macau Business Aviation Exhibition” has received strong support from the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), and State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the State Council, as well as the Macau SAR Government. The shows have now become the largest international brand exhibitions in Hong Kong and Macau regions. Over the past five years, Nam Kwong Group has stuck to a path of organizing differentiated and high-standard exhibitions, capitalized on the geographical advantages of Macau and closely followed national policies to promote the rapid development of the convention and exhibition industry of Macau. Through demonstrating the achievements of China’s auto industry and yacht industry, it has played an active role in promoting the moderately diversified and sustainable development of Macau’s economy, while building up the international image of Chinese brands.
