As Du Qinglin noted in his address, the concept of civilization centered on building a community of shared future contains the new ideas of equality, inclusive, exchanges and mutual learning between different civilizations, and the great undertaking needs solid cultural support and concerted efforts from peoples and ethnic groups across the globe. To this end, he called on countries and regions to respect each other and promote exchanges between civilizations, strengthen people-to-people exchanges, learn from each other and jointly promote cultural development under the Belt and Road Initiative, and empower the people for building a community of shared future. Fernando Chui Sai On emphasized that in face of new problems and challenges, different countries and regions must seek common prosperity through interactions, exchanges and friendly negotiations, and the World Cultural Forum (Taihu, China) has provided an international platform for cultural exchanges. He hoped that the annual conference could provide an opportunity to share wisdom, reach consensus, and pool efforts to promote cultural prosperity and development on a global scale and build a community of shared future. Gulmira Kudaiberdiyeva said that Kyrgyzstan has actively responded to China’s Belt and Road Initiative, which is set to give a huge impetus to the mutual beneficial development of European and Asian countries. As she pointed out, Kyrgyzstan highly appreciates China’s efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations with Central Asia, and enjoys a broad prospect and has a solid basis for cooperation with China. “The Chinese government is advancing the Belt and Road Initiative to build a community of shared interests, future and responsibility featuring mutual political trust, economic integration and cultural inclusiveness, establish a long-term cooperation mechanism to ensure the prosperity and development of the human community. This is a great endeavor the Chinese government is making from the standpoint of global governance to benefit all countries and regions, the people, and the human society”, said Zhang Meiying. While acknowledging Macau’s status as an important link of the ancient maritime silk road and an important channel for exchanges between the East and the West more than 450 years ago, Xu Kaicheng pointed out that Macau has now become a key window for exchanges and connectivity between the Chinese civilization and other civilizations, and Macau’s experience can provide valuable implications for the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative. “The annual conference centered on culture goes well with Macau’s unique environment, and coincides with Macau’s development strategy of building a new image of “Cultural Macau”, enhancing its competitiveness, and giving priority to the development of the convention industry”, he added. Adama Samassékou, former President of the International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences and former Minister of National Education in Mali, noted that the greatest role of globalization lies in bringing markets closer, resulting in logic relationships with markets and profits but further polarizing the world. He believes that with the globalization of markets, the globalization of people and culture must keep up, the only possible way towards a beautiful future for the mankind. Yan Zhaozhu, Chairman of the World Cultural Forum (Taihu, China) and former Chief of the Cultural Affairs Bureau under the Policy Research Center of the CPC Central Committee, delivered a keynote speech titled “Join Hands to Build a Community of Shared Future for Mankind”. As he pointed out, despite the differences and divided opinions, the countries and regions around the world belong to a community of shared interests and destiny, and they rise or fall together; mutual benefit has become the main theme of international economic relations, an unprecedented new normal in the human history. At the banquet for the preparation of the International Culture and Technology (Digital Creative Industry) Youth Leadership Summit, Duan Hongyi said that with the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, China’s 13th Five-Year Plan and Macau’s first Five-Year Plan, Nam Kwong Group has also faced new opportunities and challenges, and it is looking forward to playing a full role as a central enterprise in supporting the country’s digital creative industry development strategy and Macau’s “Center & Platform” vision, strengthening economic and cultural exchanges between Macau and the Chinese mainland and other parts of the world, accelerating the development of the convention and exhibition industry, cultural and creative industry and TCM industry of Macau, and promoting the moderate diversification of Macau’s economy. The annual conference drew wide attention in Macau and was widely covered by new media. Multiple associations of Macau participated in the organization of sub-forums. For example, the University of Macau and the Women’s General Association of Macau organized the youth sub-forum and women’s sub-forum respectively. About 40 Macau-based scholars, officials and celebrities were invited to give speeches or share their opinions, demonstrating to the world Macau’s achievements in such areas as culture, science and technology, environmental protection, international relations research, TCM, youth, women, and the Belt and Road Initiative. Macau is now at a critical stage of industrial transformation and diversified development. Nam Kwong Group will continue to “give back to the community with only the best”, make full use of its own resources and advantages as a Macau-based central enterprise to consistently support the government’s measures for diversifying the economy, engage all sectors of society in cooperation, expand the regional competitiveness and international influence of Macau’s convention and exhibition industry by holding influential and professional international exhibitions, and contribute to the government’s initiative of building Macau into an international convention and exhibition center, an international tourism and entertainment center, and a cultural metropolis. |
